Traditional and Modern Cuisine
Piazza Grande @Arezzo (Tuscany, Italy) |
I do think that anyone can not truly know a place if has not tasted the local cuisine.
La Curia Restaurant, Arezzo |
Today I'd like to propose a really elegant restaurant, a place where the mix between tradition and modernity is indeed very successful.
Pici al Ragù Bianco @ "La Curia" |
View from the tables of "La Curia" (Arezzo) |
The Restaurant " La Curia " is located just at the entrance of Piazza Grande, and the shadow of the big white umbrellas let you eat outside enjoying the beautiful scenery.
Chianina Beef minced: delicious!! |
I had the opportunity to taste local specialities, as Pici Pasta, and innovative dishes, such as Chianina beef minced with egg sauce and anchovy ice cream: Delicious!!!
Extra Virgin Olive Oil... so good! |
Of course, every ingredient is locally produced: scented, rich such as the Extra Virgin olive oil, produced in the countryside of Arezzo, dressing dishes offered.
Enjoy it on Tuscan bread, a true delicacy!
Of course I'll wait for your comments ... but meanwhile look at this:

Val Federìa (Livigno) |
The Federia Farm only ais is to offer its guests a genuine ospitality and an atmosphere of conviviality.
This is a typical feature of the Italian Alpes, and I personally could taste the products of the Farm's Menu. I really enjoyed it!!

If you want to find a little place away from the spotlight of the major resorts, if you would like to be welcomed with kindness and attention, I suggest to taste the cuisine of the Master Giancarlo Fulgenzi.

"Lo Steccheto", Val di Chiana, Tuscany |
Delicious omelet with mushrooms flavored with basil |
I personally have tasted authentic deliciousness like omelette with mushrooms flavored with basil, but there were also traditional dishes such as prosciutto and the typical pecorino cheese of Pienza.

Rimini: Piadina Romagnola, Typical Italian Meal
Piadina Romagnola by Lella (Rimini, Italy): I brought them home, I could I give them?!? |
The piadina is inserted in the list of traditional Italian food products in the region Emilia-Romagna.
Preparing Piadina and Cassoni @Lella |
The Cassone is a typical preparation based on where the flatbread dough is stuffed, folded and sealed before cooking.
But, if you're really interested in tasting the most delicious Piadina in Rimini you MUST taste the Piadina Lella, the oldest piadineria of Rimini (Piadineria "Dalla Lella")
Marina, her daughter, is the Queen of Piadina, and her shop is really so characteristic, and she will explain all the receipes of her culinary masterpieces!
Miss Marina @ Lella, Piadineria Rimini |
All Piadas and Cassoni ready to be eaten! |

Modena Hills... with My Personal Touch!
The good traditional cuisine of Emilia Romagna (Italy)
During my little journey around the Modena Hills, I was so lucky to find a little gem in a so small village (only 39 people live there!): Semelano di Montese
Rifugio DiVino (Semelano di Montese, Modena-Italy) |
Here we are! (Modena Hills, Italy) |
Rifugio DiVino (www.rifugiodivino.it) is a place that seems a picture: a traditional rural building completely renovated while retaining the features of a country dwelling.
Coming there let you rediscover traditional flavours and home cooking in a comfortable and friendly environment.
Mrs.Giovanna is the cook (and the owner, too): her thirty years of experience in the kitchen. She expresses her art through the preparation of authentic culinary delights: tortellini, pasta, roasts, pies, jams ...
My Personal Breakfast at Rifugio DiVino |
I had the chance to taste a breakfast of fresh ricotta cheese and blueberry jam, apple pies and chocolate cakes completely prepared by Mr. Giovanna..
Ciao!

Discovering Marche
(Italy... With my Personal Touch!)
Ok, my friend! Very happy to introduce you to this magic part of Italy. Of course you can find a lot of information yourself, but.... FOLLOW ME, I'll show you something special :-)
I was in Macerata, just few days ago, and I asked for a good place to dinner... I mean, a typical place to dinner! People suggest me this restaurant... and it was a great suggestion.
In a small borough, Morrovalle (in Macerata, Morrovalle, Contrada Culmici), there is an old Franciscan monastery. During the second world war it was used as refuge for the displaced. After the end of the war, the monks moved, and the convent was bought by a local family.
Fifteen year ago, mrs. Ilda and his husband fell in love for this magic place, and decided to restore this site and, with a patient and meticolous work, they transformed the convent in a restaurant with local cuisine made with local products and specialties. I'm speaking about "L'Orto Dei Cappuccini" Restaurant.
This is me @ L'orto Dei Cappuccini |
They don't have any web site yet; You can call at this number +39 0733223417, and say that you are friend of mine!
Princisgrassi |
Among the dishes, do not miss the Olive Ascolane (look at the " Preparation Of Olive Ascolane" ) and the fried eggs cream (Recipe of Crema Fritta) , the "Princisgrassi ", and delicoius pastries to dip in Vincotto (Vincotto) ... yummy!
Ciao!

The Brenta River (Venice,Italy)
If you fancy something really special, very aristocratic and elegant you have to take a ride on the River Brenta.
For your rest for lunch or dinner, I can really recommend the restaurant Villa Tini: ask Mrs. Donatella, she will welcome you with warmth and competence!
I dined in this restaurant cause I was suggested by the hotel (nearby) which I was guest. Greeted with warmth and friendliness, I was in a dining room whose history is very special: an ancient aristocratic villa on the banks of the Brenta River, then It was transformed in the country's mail, complete with a change of horses. Bought back and restored later by middle-class family, is now used as a restaurant. The restructuring, however, was done with respect for ancient traditions, and particular attention was given to the floor (Venetian mosaic), the chandeliers and wall lamps (Murano glass), in addition to food, of course!
I could appreciate traditional Venetian dishes: vegetable soup with broccoli, typical local home-made fresh pasta with artichokes, scaloppine pork with polenta and mushrooms, braised beef with polenta, and last but not least!, hazelnut cake with custard and baskets of cake with chocolate mousse. All accompanied by locally produced red wine, which was followed by a peaty taste of grappa (almost 48% alcohol!) Reserve.
Ms Donatella has guided me in tasting ability, and courtesy, collecting my compliments, but she wanted to remark the teamwork in the kitchen. In short, a really very nice evening.
Try it!
Ciao,
